Three months in, here’s The Lazy Goose’s story so far.

Isn’t it amazing how time flies? At the end of 2023, we made the decision to take on The King’s Head. A pub that had been a bit unloved for a while. Now here we are, in April, and we’ve just finished our third month as proud owners of The Lazy Goose: the home of the best coffee, cakes and sourdough toasties you’ll find around, and one of the best places to stay in Gloucestershire!

After our first quarter of trading, we are absolutely thrilled with the response we’ve had. We’d like to thank you all for your support. In our first ten weeks, we served over 10,000 hot drinks and gathered over 1000 followers on Facebook alone! We also welcomed guests from all over the country to our B&B here in glorious Gloucestershire, who all enjoyed staying in our brand-new bedrooms.

Our vision for The Lazy Goose had two parts. First, we wanted to create another option for a place to stay before and after weddings at Eastington Park. We already offer The Lodge – our beautiful gatehouse—to up to 10 guests from one of the wedding parties, so having the perfect place for the other family’s guests to stay seemed great for everyone involved. It’s also an ideal option for guests who are staying at the main house the following night.

Secondly, we set out to build a B&B and coffee house in Eastington for the community and its visitors to enjoy and be proud of. We hoped that people would come for top-notch coffee, pastries or a cold Hawkstone lager in a relaxed and welcoming environment. And we’re delighted to say that’s what happened!

Upstairs, in our fully refurbished 7-bedroom B&B, we’ve already welcomed people who are working nearby off the M5, visitors from abroad looking for a hotel in Gloucestershire, families and friends of people who live locally, as well as our lovely couples and their friends and families. After all the effort we put in, it’s massively rewarding to read so many kind reviews. It’s really special and we’re very grateful to all of our guests and our amazing team for making it work so well.

Our lovely village coffee house downstairs has also got off to a fabulous start. Our state-of-the-art coffee machine and finest-quality beans haven’t gone unnoticed, and lots of visitors have said coffee at The Lazy Goose is the best they’ve ever tasted! We’ve also had lots of lovely compliments about our range of cakes (especially our famous lemon drizzle!). And tantalising array of pastries, sourdough toasties, sweets and bakes. If you’re reading this and haven’t had the chance to try us yet, we urge you to: you won’t regret it!

Finally, make sure to like and follow us on Facebook and Instagram. We’ll keep you up to speed with all the goings on and hopefully give you some inspiration for things to try!

Thanks again to all of you and to our amazing team.

Love

The Lazy Goose team

Our first visit to the Lazy Goose, having discovered its existence when we attended our granddaughters wedding last September at Eastington Park.
So pleased we made the effort, and as the car park was full when we arrived we realised that it has become very popular, but we managed to park in the road.
The coffee was superb, and my husband , who considers himself an expert on rating millionaires shortbread said it was easily the best he had ever tasted. We will definitely make this a regular coffee spot, and look forward to making use of the large outside space in the summer.

Stayed at the Lazy Goose this weekend for the first time. The room was absolutely amazing. Huge room and a massive comfy bed with crisp white sheets. Every detail thought of, iron, hairdryer, heater, fan and tea and coffee. The only addition missing was a non-slip mat for the shower.
